Eco Art Workshops
Since 2022, I have presented low-carbon eco-art workshops at art galleries and community centres. These participatory workshops have become an important part of my practice with attendees making art from neighbourhood foraging, food waste and garden leftovers.
These workshops introduce participants to anthotypes, a zero-carbon, plant-based printing technique, and cyanotypes, a similar low-carbon process. Throughout these hands-on experiences, participants will learn the historical roots of eco-printing and partake in its contemporary resurgence.Participants will produce a series of self-made, plant pigments and compositions from various plants, vegetables and flowers and will sensitize different materials for anthotypes exposures. Demo cyanotype exposures are created by participants during the workshop, however, due to anthotypes time-intensive nature (often taking hours, and sometimes even days) full exposures are usually not possible. Participants leave with cyanotypes compositions and anthotype-sensitized papers, ready to embark on their own printing journey at home. Workshops include demos, studio time and discussions about foraging, eco-photography methods and the environmental advantages of adopting sustainable alternatives like anthotypes.
