Tara Nicholson is a Canadian artist and ecological activist whose work investigates themes of Arctic extinction and permafrost research through a more-than-human lens. Her practice addresses the urgent environmental issues of our time, encouraging a deeper connection with the natural world. 

Nicholson has exhibited her work widely and has participated in numerous artist residencies while receiving support for the Canada Council and BC Arts Council. Notable recent exhibitions include “Mammoths, EcoZombies & Permafrost Extinction” at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art (Kelowna), “Wicked Problems” at the Queen’s Gallery (UK), “Her Land: Perspectives in EcoArt” at the Kelowna Art Gallery, and “Site, Surface, Sample” at Gallery 44 (Kelowna). 

Nicholson is a Continuing Lecturer at the University of Victoria and currently is completing an interdisciplinary PhD at UBC Okanagan, where her research explores the intersections of art, science, and ecological advocacy.
